Pediatric Asthma

If your child has Asthma, the CMO Care Team can help.
Approximately 9.2 million children in the U.S. have asthma. When a child has asthma, triggers like smoke, dust, animal dander or even a cold puff of air, can cause their airways to tighten, making it hard to breathe. If you are caring for a child with asthma, you can help in three important ways: help them avoid triggers that cause problems, help them to take medication that can control the disease, and help provide quick relief in the event of an attack.

Working with your doctor, your CMO Nurse Care Manager can:

  • Help review your child's current health status, medication and environment
  • Provide you with information about your child's condition
  • Help identify things that can trigger an asthma episode
  • Explain medication and treatment options
  • Put together an asthma action plan for your child
  • Help you learn ways to care for your child's asthma
  • Help you recognize possible complications
  • Follow-up after your child comes home from the hospital
